I am an Evangelical Christian man who is strongly opposed to abortion. With that said, I don't believe that the approach the state is taking to stop abortion will ever work.
The only way to truly stop abortion is to lead people to faith in Jesus Christ.
The Bible says "For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart." Hebrews 4:12 ESV.
Watching the Oklahoma Legislature lately, the only thing they seem to want to do is to try to create is more and more unconstitutional anti-abortion bills that accomplish nothing!
All they end up doing is costing the state money trying to defend them in court.
Until people recognize that an unborn child is a child and not just a blob of tissue and also one of the greatest gifts God gives man, no amount of laws will ever change that.
Only by changing the thoughts and intents of the human heart will people have a proper perspective. We cannot do this outside of a relationship with Jesus Christ as their Saviour.
Man was not willing to follow the law when there was one law in the Garden of Eden, which was to not eat of the fruit of the tree of Good and Evil. Nor were they willing to follow Ten Commandments that God gave Moses to the nation of Israel in Exodus 20. What makes us think that by somehow adding more laws it will suddenly make people obey and comply? Evil starts as a thought and an intent in the heart. Until we change those thoughts and intents, no amount of laws, no matter how severe the punishment, will change man's behavior.
